Community Spotlight

Our first community member spotlight features a video from Scott Teehan. Scott is a USMC Veteran who has been battling Lyme since being diagnosed in 2012. He is a producer working on Veteran-focused films/projects.
His current project is described below:

Veteran suicides exceeded 6,000 each year from 2008 to 2017.  In 2017, the suicide rate for Veterans was 1.5 times the rate for non-Veteran adults

Broken Service is a film about veteran suicide and the stigma of mental health in the military.

It’s a gut-wrenching story of buried emotions bursting to the surface and the havoc untreated mental illness can cause.

It’s a call to arms for the military to develop better policies and implement systems to help active duty service members and veterans alike get the treatment they need.

It’s also a story about hope, about confronting and destigmatizing mental illness and the mental health of veterans and active duty service members.

It’s a story about admitting to yourself it’s okay to need help.  It’s okay to talk about it, and it’s important to get help.
