Our Mission
To deliver compassion, understanding, and support for the unique challenges and triumphs experienced by those living with chronic illness, injury, pain, and neurodivergence. We will maintain the most comprehensive resource database within these communities.
The Chronic Illness Hotline, by Project Build, is not just a support service; it is a bridge—empowering individuals to reclaim agency, build resilience, and experience tangible improvement in their lives. We are unique in addressing both the mental and physical tolls caused by these systemic gaps while advocating for improved care outcomes.
Your donation will help us achieve this and so much more.

The Chronic Illness Hotline will scale in three phases to meet growing needs of our community and establish sustainable impact:
- Restart: Relaunch our text-based hotline with enhanced infrastructure, ensuring 24/7 coverage, paid supervisors, and secure, custom-built technology. This will allow us to support more texters efficiently and reliably.
- Grow: Expand our workforce by providing stipends for Compassion Counselors, preventing burnout and ensuring consistent care. We will recruit multilingual volunteers, build strategic outreach campaigns, and increase data collection capabilities to strengthen services.
- Expand to Community: Develop a virtual community center and host a collaborative women’s health summit, uniting public health practitioners, medical professionals, data analysis firms, and security experts to improve resources, training, and advocacy.
Our impact is clear: even during the program’s pause, community members expressed how our existence inspired hope. One community member shared,
“Knowing y’all were working toward reopening services helped me move forward and keep at my business.”
Donations will bring us from survival mode to flourishing, allowing us to serve as a hub for emotional support, accountability, and vital resource connections. While we do not know how the ongoing mental health crisis and escalating war on women’s health in the US will change over the next few years, we believe it will continue to deteriorate.
Donations allow us to respond and adapt to changing needs of our community. By growing intentionally, we ensure sustainability and lay foundations for systemic change in health care and chronic illness support across the US.
Over the next three years, donations will enable us to:
- Hire and compensate key staff currently serving as unpaid volunteers.
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers and board members, supported by a dedicated volunteer coordinator.
- Partner with medical and mental health professionals to refine training, programming, and guidance.
- Develop a secure technology platform with web-based resources, a private community forum, and Twilio-based SMS support for texters.
- Expand outreach campaigns to grow awareness, build partnerships, and amplify our collective voice.
This funding will provide the sustainable infrastructure needed to relaunch and expand services, ensuring that chronically ill, injured, and neurodivergent individual can access vital, compassionate support. By offering flexible, remote employment opportunities, we also empower disabled and chronically ill individuals within our own community.
The Chronic Illness Hotline is uniquely positioned to fill a void in the mental and physical health landscape with tailored, resource-driven, and compassionate care—something urgently needed in today’s uncertain climate.
Volunteer
The best way to support the Chronic Illness Hotline is to volunteer your time. We are recruiting both Compassion Counselors and Ambassadors. Please email hello@chronicillnesshotline.org
There are many ways you can give your time to Chronic Illness Hotline.
Anyone can help, from volunteering as a Social Media Ambassador to a Networking Partner or even submitting another area of support based on your experience.
Since we are a peer support program, those with chronic illness themselves, looking to give a flexible 1 hour a week or more, can complete our training program and become a Compassion Counselor.
As all nonprofits, we are only as strong as the support we receive.
If interested, please email hello@chronicillnesshotline.org for more information.
If you cannot give financially
An easy way to help us grow is to share our social media posts and profiles on your social media.
We are looking for volunteer fundraising ambassadors and in-kind donations of services. Please email hello@chronicillnesshotline.org for more information.
