Finally, a Hotline for Us: 5 Reasons We’re Needed

White background. Green leaves on the side. Black text saying "Chronic Illness Hotline by Project Build."

If you live with chronic illness, injury, pain, disability, or are neurodivergent, you know that support isn’t always easy to find. Maybe you’ve called a crisis line before: only to feel misunderstood, dismissed, or exhausted by the need to explain yourself. Maybe you’ve stayed silent, not because you didn’t need help, but because you didn’t know where to turn.

We’re launching a new kind of hotline – created for us, by people who get it.

This is more than a support line. It’s a community lifeline.

Here’s why it matters & what makes it different:

1. Immediate, accessible, and judgment-free support

When you’re overwhelmed: by symptoms, flare-ups, mental health struggles, or sheer exhaustion, waiting days or weeks for a therapy appointment isn’t always an option.

Our hotline connects you to someone within minutes. Someone trained, compassionate, and ready to meet you exactly where you are. No appointment, no pressure – just real support.

2. You won’t have to educate us.

Too many of us have spent years being told our pain isn’t real. That we’re exaggerating. That we just need to “try harder.”

Our support team is trained in chronic illness, disability justice, pain-informed care, and neurodivergence. We believe you. We know these systems can be inaccessible and we’re here to make care feel safe again. We also live with our own health conditions and are dedicated to providing peer-to-peer support.

3.  It’s completely free.

Between medical bills, insurance hurdles, and lost income from health limitations, the cost of care can feel crushing.

This hotline is 100% free to use. Because support should never be a luxury.

4. It helps break the silence.

So many people in our communities carry their pain in silence because they’re afraid to be misunderstood or dismissed one more time.

Reaching out is not weakness, it’s resistance. It’s advocacy. It’s saying:

“I matter. I deserve care. I am not alone.”

5. It can save lives and restore hope.

When you live with invisible pain or chronic struggle, the isolation can feel unbearable. But just one conversation, one moment of connection, can make a difference.

This hotline isn’t just for emergencies. It’s also here for those quiet moments when you just need someone to hear you or for triumphs you have no one to celebrate with.

You deserve a support system that sees your whole self: your resilience, your fatigue, your brilliance, and your struggle.

That’s why this hotline is being created. For every person who has ever felt dismissed, too complex, or too tired to keep advocating alone.

We’re building this for you. With you.

Stay tuned for the official launch.

In the meantime, forward this to someone who needs to know: real support is coming and it’s made for us.

Our community needs us to launch as soon as possible.

But we can’t do it without your help.

We’ve got the plan. The people. The passion.

What we need now is the support to get across the starting line.

We need help reaching potential donors, not those in our community who already feel financially burdened.
